Human Skills: Motivation
Motivation is derived from the word motives. The word motive is derived from Latin word “movere”, which means to move or to energize. Thus motivation actives us and directs our behaviour to a particular goal.
“Motivation is the result of processes, internal or external to the individual, that arouse enthusiasm and persistence to pursue a certain course of action.”
The degree to which we are motivated can be characterized by following factors:
1. Initiation of a specific cause of action.
2. The intensity of our efforts.
3. The direction in which our efforts are channeled.
4. The termination of the activity.
